Comte de Gabalis
The Comte De Gabalis is considered a Sacred Text for Rosicrucians and spiritual adepts. It is composed of Five Discourses given by a Count or spiritual master to a student. It was anonymously published in 1670 under the title: Comte De Gabalis. The meaning suggests the Count of the Cabala as the text is cabalistic in nature. This is mentioned explicitly. The first English translation was rendered in 1680. Only in later publishings did the name Abbé N. de Montfaucon de Villars become attached to this work as being its author.
One of my favorite books is Comte De Gabalis. I was introduced to it by Gary L. Stewart, founder of the CRC who simply suggested that I should read it. That was several years ago and I continue to read and re-read this book. Do I understand it? Nope. I get glimpses from it and it makes me think a lot but I just keep reading it and reading it. Interested readers should also read The Comte de Gabalis By Raymund Andrea, K.R.C. Grand Master, AMORC, Great Britain [From The Mystic Triangle September 1927] which is available on the internet.
The book is also the source of the beautiful Invocation of the Flame...
I CALL UPON THEE,
O LIVING GOD,
RADIANT WITH ILLUMINATING FIRE.
O UNSEEN PARENT OF THE SUN!
POUR FORTH THY LIGHT GIVING POWER AND ENERGISE THY DIVINE SPARK.
ENTER INTO THIS FLAME AND LET IT BE AGITATED BY THE BREATHS OF THY HOLY SPIRIT.
MANIFEST THY POWER AND OPEN FOR ME THE TEMPLE OF ALMIGHTY GOD WHICH IS WITHIN THIS FIRE!
MANIFEST THY LIGHT FOR MY REGENERATION, AND LET THE BREADTH, HEIGHT, FULLNESS AND CROWN OF THE SOLAR RADIANCE APPEAR, AND MAY THE GOD WITHIN SHINE FORTH…..
I can't recommend this book enough. For me, it might well be the best book I ever added to my collection.
