Neil McDonald has had a deep personal connection to Rennes-le-Château and has been running tours to the area, studying the story and landscape deeply, as well as writing about it for many years. Thomas Sheridan, using his extensive knowledge of the occult and that of secret societies, as well as his understanding of the mysteries of the landscape, dove-tails his own insights into the story. The two men's combined research and discoveries have unearthed a spectacular new understanding of Rennes-le-Château and the story of the Abbé François Bérenger Saunière.

Our Review

I purchased the book after interviewing Neil McDonald for my Magical World podcast series where he intrigued me regarding the book's findings. It's quiet a short read and I read it in a short hour or so on a train journey. It's also an easy read and illustrated throughout with intriguing photographs. The long and the short of it is that the authors believe that the true mystery at Rennes-le-Chateau has little to do with bloodline or any wife of Jesus nor in fact has it to do with the Priory of Sion - nope. The real mystery is how a simple Priest became so rich so fast! What did he find in this church that enabled him to generate huge sums of money - and no, it wasn't paid mass - at least not that sort of paid mass.

The authors lead you on a journey in which they question how this man became the local Priest and what it was he found in the church. They then use the symbolism within the church along with other lines of research to arrive at an intriguing and startling conclusion..... but you will need to read it for yourself to discover what that is.
